Merry March For two pianos

The “Merry March” in D major appeared in May 1949. It is dedicated to Maksim Shostakovich. The cover of the manuscript is designed like a children’s book. On the first page the opus number 81 is seen, which was soon retracted after this number was assigned to the oratorio “The Song of the Forests” written later the same year. The “March” is in ternary form with a trio and da capo recapitulation.
